Streak-Free Window Cleaning, Inside and Out

Streaky windows usually come down to timing and technique rather than the cleaner you're using. A few adjustments make a noticeable difference.
Avoid cleaning in direct sunlight
Direct sun causes cleaning solution to dry too fast, leaving streaks behind before you can wipe it away evenly. An overcast day, or cleaning in the shade during a sunny one, gives you more time to work the glass clean before it dries.
Use a squeegee for the actual glass
A squeegee removes cleaning solution more evenly than a cloth, which tends to just spread liquid around. Wiping the blade dry between passes, and using a consistent top-to-bottom or side-to-side stroke, avoids the streak lines a cloth alone often leaves.
Different strokes inside vs. outside
Wiping the inside of a window horizontally and the outside vertically (or vice versa) makes it easy to tell which side any leftover streak is on, so you know exactly where to go back and fix it.
Don't forget the tracks and sills
Dust and grime collect in window tracks and sills even when the glass itself looks clean. Vacuuming the track first, then wiping it down, prevents that debris from smearing onto the glass during cleaning.
